We see the transition to retirement as a continuation, not an end point. Retirement today is very different to what it was 20, 30, 50 years ago. There is no default or contractual retirement age, people live longer and retirement can take many forms.
Many people consult with a financial advisor to plan for retirement, however this tends to be limited to understanding and managing the financial aspects of retirement. This is of course important, but it isn’t the only aspect to consider when making the most of your time in later life.
We work with organisations and individuals to consider broader questions around the transition to retirement such as identity, purpose, social connectivity, wellbeing and goals. Typically, our clients will be starting to consider retirement in the next 2-5 years but this isn’t a hard and fast rule.
There are multiple benefits to both organisations and individual employees.
For Organisations:
For Individuals:
For Advisors:
We will always start by talking to you, whether you are an employer looking to support your workforce by providing a pre-retirement programme, an individual investing in your own future or an advisor looking to augment your offering. Our Transition to Retirement modular programme has two distinct elements, which can be used in combination or individually.
Delivered on a modular basis, with the option to attend a workshop, in-house for employees or open workshops with a mix of other people at a similar stage.
The purpose of this workshop is to start identifying the areas of priority for you as you transition towards retirement.
Individual coaching can focus on priorities identified in a workshop or may be a stand-alone option. For couples planning their retirements, coaching can be with both partners together.
The aim is to facilitate planning around the broader aspects of retirement.
We worked with a client who was coming to the end of a successful career spent with one employer. He hadn’t considered how the transition would affect his sense of identity and how loss of his busy calendar would impact his feeling of being needed by others.
We worked together to identify what a good retirement might look like and to create a project plan to move towards this, finding short-term ways to structure his days in a meaningful way.
Of his coaching experience he said “I wish I’d considered these aspects of retirement earlier on as I was completely taken by surprise when I stopped working. This experience has been really valuable and I highly recommend it.”
We are happy to talk through this service in more detail. If you are considering this for your organisation or you are an individual, please get in touch to arrange a 30 minute discovery call, with no obligation and in complete confidence.
It is a privilege to have worked with so many leaders in businesses and charities, as well as their talented people. It’s also wonderful to hear their feedback.
Sarah worked with me as my Career Coach in a period when I was reconsidering the future of my employment. Sarah is a great listener and gives an appropriate amount of challenge to help me reflect and achieve some clarity of which direction I needed to take. Sarah is empathetic to different situations and has a great understanding of business, enabling the individual to reach considered actions and outcomes.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your help and support over the last few months. My mind has been whizzing at a million miles an hour but after speaking to you I’ve always found clarity and and had a list of things to look at or consider. Thank you for being a calm and listening ear as well as offer expertise and encouragement when needed!
Sarah was my Executive Coach during my career change from a high-street bank. I've felt lucky to have Sarah on my team because she offered me the space to reflect, regroup and gain further insight into what my next best move could be. She's a wonderful listener with outstanding strategic insight and depth of knowledge. Highly recommended.
As I faced redundancy in the summer of 2023 , I was fortunate enough to engage with Sarah. She provided expert and tailored coaching that fully took into account my experience and future ambitions. Sarah challenged me in the right way, encouraging me to go for the 'right role’, using her infectious positivity in our regular sessions. I have no doubt that Sarah played a large part in me obtaining my new role and I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone who needs her skills.
